Sunpower reaches a landmark in Electric Fencing
In 2012, Sunpower reached a landmark in the field of electric fencing of installing more than 3,000 km of Gallagher branded electric fences in Sri Lanka. Gallagher Animal Management Systems of New Zealand is the inventor of electric fencing and the world’s leading electric fence company. Sunpower & Gallagher pioneered electric fencing in Sri Lanka and have contributed immensely to minimise the ravaging human-elephant conflict in the Island nation.

First of its kind by a Sri Lankan University
Sunpower installed and commissioned a 7kW solar system at the medical faculty of University of Kelaniya in Ragama to generate electricity and feed the national grid. The Kelaniya University thus became the first university in Sri Lanka to enjoy free electricity. The Government of Sri Lanka encourages consumers to generate electricity using renewable sources and feed the national grid and as a result consumers can enjoy free electricity in most cases. This mechanism is called net metering.
First 500kW Solar Park in operation
Sunpower with LG CNS of Korea installed and commissioned Sri Lanka’s first grid connected solar power generation system.

3rd Phase underway
Sunpower’s construction arm is currently engaged in implementing the 3rd Phase of the Integrated Water Supply Scheme for Ampara District. This project, which is expected to deliver 6 million gallons of drinking water per day, is designed to serve the areas of Ampara District which are not covered under phases II & III.
